We are deeply committed to the stewardship of this beautiful historic building and believe in the transformative power of arts. In 2018, we embarked on an ambitious and essential fundraising campaign to restore the building and prepare the theatre for a sustainable future. We asked the community at large to help us build a long-term base of support for the theatre. We applied for and received a grant from the Maine Community Foundation to develop our campaign strategy. With The Waldo fully renovated and open, we are now hosting films, concerts and live theatre performances. Live performances will include national as well as state and regional acts. We have the technological capacity to live stream educational and entertainment content. Through programs like after-school activities, a signature youth arts program, summer workshops and other events, the Waldo is deepening the aspirations of the region’s residents, particularly its youth, and enhancing the quality of life for all. This vibrant theatre serves once more as a cultural hub, sparking an economic and cultural renaissance in downtown Waldoboro and the Midcoast region.
