This excursion is FREE and you only pay for what you buy. There is a fee for the chocolate workshop as mentioned further below. When you visit the Dominican Republic, there are 3 things you should bring home: Dominican cigars (which are among the BEST in the world), Dominican rum and Dominican coffee. Here is your chance to buy all three items at the same time…at very good prices. A visit to Mundo Autentico (the authentic world) is a great way to spend a few hours. Not only will you be able to see, touch, smell and taste your way through our world, you will also have the chance to bring home souvenirs and presents at the best prices in Punta Cana. Mundo Autentico consists of Don Lucas Cigars, Choco Museo, Coffee Museum and Rum bar & lounge. Don Lucas Cigars: At Don Lucas Cigars we will show you exactly how a good cigar is made or rather hand rolled and reveal the secrets behind the cigar-making process from the time the tobacco seed is sown till the finished cigar is made and ready to be enjoyed. We will also invite you to try a cigar – a pure Don Lucas delight (the Don Lucas cigar was officially ranked top 11 cigar in the world by Leisure & Travel magazine). After our stop at the small cigar factory we head to the fermentation room where we show you how quality control is done and how the cigars are stored for proper aging. Choco Museum & Chocolate Workshop: In January 2013 we added the Choco Museum as a part of the tour! Now you have the chance to learn all about how chocolate comes to life, including a bit of history, which dates back 2,000 years to the cultures of the ancient Maya population, and how chocolate is grown, harvested, dried and make into the rich, dark/milk/white, chocolate that you can take home! All the chocolate is made from 100% organic, Fair Trade cocoa from Conacado. At the chocolate store, you will be able to purchase chocolate bars, cocoa products, a selection of cocoa cosmetic products, chocolate flavoured rum as well as Dominican arts & crafts that you won't find anywhere else. Or how about making your very own chocolate? Take part in the chocolate workshop which teaches you the skills of how to turn cocoa beans into delicious, homemade chocolate for you to enjoy and share with friends and family back home..or eat straight away. Try some of the different recipies of the Maya, Aztec and Conquistadors and use some of the tools they used back in the days! The workshop is available daily at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 2:30 pm or 4:00 pm and lasts approx. 2 hours (limited space available). Each adult participating will receive a FREE GIFT of US$ 40 retail value incl. chef's hat, a bottle of Mamajuana with cocoa and a chocolate master certificate. We also have a mini-workshop available, which is approx. 1 hour and does not include the free gift. Coffee Museum: Check out our newest addition to the Mundo Autentico World. Our small coffee museum gives you all of the information (in pictures( about how coffee is grown, harvested and turned into your favorite hot beverage. You can also see, smell and touch real coffee beans and have a taste of our freshly brewed coffee. Don't forget to bring home your favorite Dominican coffee. Rum Bar: At our rum bar & lounge you can see and taste a selection of the finest Dominican rums. Choose your favorite to bring a taste of the Dominican Republic with you home. This is also a great place to have a cocktail while you wait for the transportation to come and take you back to your hotel. Mundo Autentico Shop: After your tour, you will have plenty of time to pick out your favorite cigars, rum, coffee, souvenirs, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, etc., at the Mundo Autentico Shop. Choose between Don Lucas’ own brand for an especially low price or any other major Cuban or Dominican brands. All items are priced so you know exactly how much you are paying - unlike most other "souvenir shops" in the area where you have to barter for the prices. This tour usually takes between 2 – 3 hours, but you can spend as much time as you wish at Mundo Autentico. When you are ready to go back to your hotel, our mini vans will take you there (just let them know in the shop about 20-30 minutes before you want to go). Please note there may be some waiting time for the transportation and the bus may stop at other hotels than yours.
