Explore Salem with a Local
Salem is a beautiful, historic city best known for its tragic 'Witch' Trials. Our walk and talk will provide an overview of our history, from our founding in 1626 to the Witch Hysteria of 1692, to the current day, with some sites from Hocus Pocus tossed in. I'm happy to adjust the tour route based on the interests of the attendees. The tour length is about 1 1/2 hours to 1 hour, 45 minutes, depending on the interaction and the pace of the group. We'll cover about 2 miles. As a resident, I share a local perspective to help bring Salem alive for you and help with any tips that may make your visit more enjoyable. Our tour is historical, but I may sprinkle in a few legends and hauntings along the way. I am very flexible with my tour dates and times, so drop me a note if you don't see something that works for you. I also offer a tour called Salem's Haunted History, which focuses on the Witch Trials and legends of hauntings around the city. If you are visiting Salem during the summer or fall, I suggest you schedule your tour early as they can sell out. I have the most generous cancellation policy Air BNB allows which is 24 hours of notice.
Sail on the Schooner Fame of Salem
Haul up the sails! Take the tiller! Or just chill out with a local craft beer or Deacon Stormy while our historic schooner slides through Salem Sound past lighthouses, forts, and waterfront homes. The captain and crew will explain the significance of the FAME, privateering, and the War of 1812. The firing of the cannon is always a highlight! We'll motor out from Pickering Wharf in downtown Salem and call for volunteers to help raise the sails. Depending on the wind, we may shape a course toward Beverly... or Marblehead... or head straight out toward the islands! Our interactive crew point out landmarks, explain the operation of the schooner, and mix drinks with equal facility. The sails last roughly an hour and forty minutes. When we return to Pickering Wharf, you're right in the heart of downtown Salem — perfectly placed for a meal, a drink, or a stroll! Note: We will not sail if steady rain, high winds, or thick fog are expected; you will be refunded. Message us if you are unsure about the forecast. Dress for the weather — you are exposed to the elements on our 1812 schooner! This trip is NOT appropriate for infants or toddlers. But once kids are 4-5 years old, they really enjoy it! The schooner is certified for 49 passengers plus crew, but since 2021 we are sailing at 60% capacity, which means there will be a maximum of 29 guests on your sail.

Shuck Oysters on the Harbor
Our life philosophy is EAT ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. We like eating some of the best foods, in odd places. We will meet on the docks of East Boston where we will tear into and slurp dozens of local oysters, harvested by our oyster farmer friends, while looking over the harbor and skyline. You will learn how to properly shuck an oyster and will go home with a shucking knife of your own. The memories will be in the details. We will set up in "flash-mob" "pop-up" style along the water. Expect the unexpected. Other things to note This is an outdoor experience. To get to the dock, I encourage you to take a water taxi! There are several pick-up points and I am happy to help arrange this for you.

Salem is a city full of history and mystery, including legends and lores of curses and spirits that may linger today. Our 1 1/2 hour walk through the city will explore sites and stories of tragedies that may have left residual energy in their wake, including the 1692 Witch Trials. The total distance is about 2 miles. As a lifetime resident of Salem, I will add some personal experiences and stories that will make our experience unique. I only have weekends scheduled currently, but I'm pretty flexible if there is another date or time you'd like, day or night. Just drop me a note! On this tour, you'll join me as we explore the city and food culture through the medium of donuts. You'll learn history of Boston, each donut location, how they fit into the larger food scene, as well as try some amazing donuts. We start in Boston's financial district at Kane's Donuts. After sampling some delicious donuts, we'll walk along the harbor on our way to Boston's Public Market, where we'll try some amazing apple cider and apple cider donuts. Fresh every day! After that, we'll sample some of the best artisanal donuts you'll have in the entire city at Union Square Donuts. For the last portion of our tour, we'll walk through Boston's North End or Little Italy learning about the history of the neighborhood along the way. Once there, we'll visit one of the North End's oldest bakeries, Bova's where we'll have a uniquely Boston treat. We hope you can join us! Other things to note Currently, many of these shops do not have gluten free or dairy free donuts available. We will try to accommodate allergies, but it has been difficult recently. Hike up to Ragged Mountain through an abandoned ski area
Catch the fall foliage in the Berkshires! Ragged Mountain is wild and uncrowded, a great spot to enjoy the changing leaves in a serene setting. Looking for a moderate hike with a series of beautiful vistas and a little adventure at the top? If you're not confident with trail navigation, or maybe looking for a "sure thing" trail, or just want to take a hike with a friendly guide, this is the one for you! We'll start in lovely Greylock Glen, in the shadow of MA's tallest mountain, and wander up through the ruins and overgrown slopes of an old abandoned ski area. Then hike up to Bellows Pipe pass, where we'll ascend a short, steep section to Ragged Mountain. There we'll take in the first view of Mt. Greylock above before navigating the narrow paths along the rocky ridge where we'll emerge onto a few more rocky peaks with stunning views of the Berkshires in the distance and the towns below. On the way back down we'll explore more of the old ski area. Along the way we'll encounter Greylock Park's array of wildlife, and I'll point out what I can. I'm pleased to chat and share my knowledge as we go, but there's no script I'll be following. And I always have a digression ready to go, and a side trail to explore! I'm happy to modify the hike distance and difficulty based on your preferences (and can sometimes adjust the start time), so please reach out if you have any questions.

Rebels, gangs, Midnight Riders (and a few cheap dad jokes) all feature in the tales on this tour. Tour goers will leave with an understanding of Boston's role in the American Revolution, but also how Boston has pioneered abolition, American education, and immigration. It all happened at these famous sites along the iconic red brick line. This highly interactive tour will begin opposite the Massachusetts State House and conclude in the North End with the best view of the Charlestown Freedom Trail sites. Along the way you'll experience the explosive events of the American Revolution like the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre in the places they happened.
