Authentic and delicious Thai food. Great vibe in the restaurant but also good for takeout (what we usually we do). If you're adventurous can order your curry "Thai Spicy". This is a scale that's hotter than the mild/medium/hot scale and runs from 1-5. I love spicy and I do Thai Spicy 3. I can't handle the 4 or 5 but if go for it if you think you can!

Chicago style pizza. We lived in Chicago for years and this is right up there with anyplace up there. Great for takeout but the bar is cool in a divey way.

Probably our favorite spot in the city. Microbrewery with a lot of outside space. Kid friendly on the outside but can get away in peace and quiet (no televisions, not even a phone you can call) on the inside. Delicious beer, mostly English style ales.

Gin Room, huge selection of gins and frequent micro-distillers giving tastings. This is also a restaurant but I prefer the main room with the bar and order gin flights/martini flights etc.

Dive bar, one of my favorite spots in the city. Good beer selection, low key place. Attached is "Steve's Hot Dogs" which has inventive hot dog and mac'n cheese dishes. Perfect combination. Side note: if you've ever heard of punk/ska band "The Urge", Steve's Hot Dogs is owned by the lead singer

One block away, the main reason we moved here. Always many things going on but large enough that you can escape on a walk/jog/bike excursion. The loop I jog is right at a 5K around the main paths of the park.
