Beach Parking

Most ocean and lake (pond) beaches on the Cape require a fee to park. Some beaches allow resident parking only. We recommend walking or biking to the 3 ocean beaches near our home (Ropes, Loop, and Oregon). Barnstable has 6 beaches with paid public parking (Craigville, Kalmus, Keyes, Veteran's Park, Hathaway's Pond, Sandy Neck.) Current pricing is $25/day at the gate. You can purchase a weekly permit in advance (see section below). On all (15) Barnstable beaches, anyone can park before 8:30am or after 4:30pm, when gates are unattended.

Barnstable "Weekly Parking Permit" for Public Beaches

For the (6) Barnstable beaches that allow public parking (see above section), you may purchase a "Weekly Parking Permit" in lieu of paying the daily rate. Current (2023) pricing is $110 for 7 consecutive days. For details, consult the Town of Barnstable, Department of Recreation website. (Please note that the weekly permit must be purchased from the Town directly and there is processing time, i.e., it is not available at beach gates. You will wish to purchase in advance.)

Beach Etiquette

On Cape Cod, you may walk on many stretches of ocean beachfront signed as "private" at low tide, since ownership extends only to the high tide line. You may not lay a towel, etc., but may leave footsteps.
