Iconic Seaside. Since it’s so close, you might as well visit to see for yourself why this little beach town is famous around the world. Ride your bike from the camper. Parking is difficult (if not impossible) if you try to leave after 10:00am during peak season. It’s a short and sweet 15 minute bike ride. Plan to stay and peruse the shops and maybe grab a bite to eat or drink while you’re there.
SEASIDE - Simple pleasures in artfully quaint surroundings are treasured at Seaside, an upscale Mayberry-by-the-Gulf whose neat rows of pastel-colored frame houses -- all with required white picket fences -- were made famous in the 1998 Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show. The 80-acre community, straddling two-lane Scenic Highway 30A, is self-contained, with about 550 dwellings from tiny to tony including houses, townhouses, apartments and condos; old-fashioned motor court; grocery; a dozen eateries; and about 40 shops and galleries. -KITTY BEAN YANCEY, USA TODAY.

Full of massive, moss draped live oaks that will steal your heart away. It’s absolutely beautiful and one of the most romantic places EVER. It’s only a short 15 drive so do yourself a favor and carve out time for a short stroll around the grounds. If you have more time, they have a nice walking trail too. When we go, we bring a few crackers and feed the fish. There is a small pool/fountain area full of koi near the main house, which is a beautifully renovated two-story house dating back to 1897 with elegant white columns and a wrap-around porch.

There’s also an extensive collection of wines, and craft beers.. They have the BEST carrot cake in town. I cannot resist it. Pricey for a slice, but it’s HUGE and will last you more than one day. Another fun buy here is their mimosa. It’s so yummy and they give it to you in a to-go cup, so it’s super fun to start a stroll around Seaside with one in hand.

Great food, drinks, music and a fun/funky interior. They only take cash or check. If you don’t have either, they have an ATM there if you need it. Parking in Grayton Beach can be sparse, so be prepared or try to visit outside peak times. While you’re there, make sure you check out the beach. Pending on the time of year and tide, Western Lake flows into the Gulf there...sometimes opening and exchanging salt and fresh water. It’s a sight to behold!

They have an extensive wine list, or if you aren’t feeling that, they make a killer skinny margarita and other fun cocktails.

The dining room is quite loud, so when my husband and I go, we prefer to cozy up to the bar and have a glass of wine and eat there because there is a dividing wall separating the two places. Their veal meatballs and tiramisu are a MUST!

They actually serve great sushi here...But if you don’t want to eat there, you can also just go for a drink and play a little corn hole or enjoy views of Eastern Lake at sunset. They have a great outside area to just hang and relax.

If you happen to be here on a Saturday, check out the Farmer’s Market in Seaside. They usually have live music as well. We recommend riding your bike there. If you plan to drive, parking is easier to find if you are down there by 9:30am.

If you’re in town on a Sunday, this market is really fun and has many local venders and lots of sweet treats. Parking can be very difficult, so if you have trouble finding a spot in Rosemary Beach, we recommend parking at the 30A Avenue shops then walking over (it will be a 15 minute walk) and you’ll save yourself some frustration.
