Riga Central Market (Latvian: Rīgas Centrāltirgus) is Europe's largest market and bazaar. It is one of the most notable structures from 20th century in Latvia and has been included in UNESCO World Heritage Site list together with Old Riga in 1998. It was planned from 1922 and built from 1924 to 1930. The main structures of the market are five pavilions constructed by reusing old German Zeppelin hangars and incorporating Neoclassicism and Art Deco styles. The market is 72,300 square metres (778,000 sq ft) wide with more than 3,000 trade stands.

You should look up "Tallinas ielas kvartāls" on the net. Great seasonal place (May-Sep) with lots of concerts, shows and other activities taking place every weekend. Some food places and bars can also be found here.

Use public transport if you don't want to walk a lot.
The ticket costs 1,15€ if you buy it beforehand and 2€ if you buy it from the driver.

Getting from the airport
Be careful!! The taxi drivers at the airport will try to rip you off (usually). The ride should not cots more than 15-20€. Negotiate the price beforehand - walk up to a driver offer them 15€, if they say 'no', go to the next one.

Kalnciema kvartāls farmer's market every Saturday 10-16
The traditional farmer and artisan market takes place throughout the year – every Saturday, 10:00 - 16:00. During December the market is also open on Sundays.
The farm produce, arts and crafts market is a long-standing tradition at Kalnciema Quarter, offering the citizens and visitors of Riga exquisite local products made by farmers, artisans and designers.
The trademark of the market is the quality of its wares – foods of biological and Latvian origin, unique and attractive creations of local artists, designers and artisans – the goods not to be found on the shelves of supermarkets.
