Sightseeing
There is SO much to do in the great outdoors at Tahoe. In the summer, biking down to Meeks Bay or into Tahoe City is one of our regular activities. We also hike and recommend the Rubicon Trail out of DL Bliss Park (easy hike) and Maggies Peak or Mount Tallac for a more advanced hike. The Meeks Bay Resort Beach and campground is within walking distance and one of the best beaches on the Lake! They even have a snack bar. Of course there is also gambling at south shore, shopping and great restaurants in Tahoe City and Old Truckee.
The Rubicon hike is perfect for most who can walk 7 miles or so. 400 foot gain. Start early as the parking lot at the trail fills up quickly. We usually drop off hikers at DL Bliss and pick up at Vikingsholm. This is one of my favorite summertime hikes. Such stunning views! Pack a bathing suit so when you get close to Vikingsholm you can go for a swim out to the tea house. Just be careful for boat traffic!

The iconic view of Emerald Bay is a MUST see! It is about 15-20 min drive south from our subdivision. Go early to avoid the crowds. You can park in several places but the biggest parking lot is lakeside, Emerald Bay State Park. For those who like to hike, Maggies Peak is a nice but strenuous hike. The trailhead is just south of Emerald Bay.

This is about a 5 minute drive away and the face runs have amazing views! We taught our kids to ski here. Good family spot and less expensive than Squaw / Alpine.
