This former bookshop has given up on its literary side. Now a cafe with plenty of reading material and cakes! Got a nice downstairs area with sofas for the kids to play too.

The best Asian food in the area. Amazingly convenient for a restaurant dinner, or you can take the 2 minute walk to pick up a takeaway.

Big park with a cafe and playground and outdoor gym area. Very well kept and lots of activities go on there. Beautiful flower garden at the far end. If you want a quick jog this has 1km path around it, so a few laps and your exercise is done! Only a few minutes walk away from house.

Lovely big park with lake, playground, tennis courts, cafe, and lots and lots of green space! Every Saturday at 9am there's a FREE to enter, organised, 5km run, which is great fun with a friendly crowd of all ages and abilities.

Really nice walk to this gallery, which always has a brilliant range of exhibitions. The cafe and restaurants round there are top notch too, so you can easily make a good day out around here.

Great place to visit for a relaxed drink and informal dinner. The food is reliably good - hearty pub meals such as burgers, pies and lovely Sunday roasts! We would go here when we couldn't be bothered to cook! They have really good comedy nights here every fortnight on a Thursday, which are worth asking about - fantastic, famous talent visit here to try out their new stand-up material.

Very attractive, traditional pub in a beautiful square of expensive houses. The best bit about this pub is that in good weather you can take your drinks and boules out to the square for a game with the locals. Great atmosphere on a sunny afternoon.

This is still walkable but not really "on the doorstep" - I put it in the Guidebook because I just really like it! Homely pub with colourful art, rustic wooden tables and a walled beer garden. Great food.
