Stunning... absolutely stunning...the sunrises and sunsets are magical. There are many hiking trails, but also great stops along the main park road, where kids and grown ups can spent hours climbing gigantic boulders (bring a picnic). The desert is harsh, so come prepared with food and water. There's limited to no cell reception. Be safe. Stop by the Park Visitor Center on Park Blvd, they'll help you plan your visit and answer all your questions.

This is a great day out! It's a one hour drive to get there.. The Palms Springs tramway ascends about 2.5 miles and takes you to pristine wilderness high up in the mountains for snow fun or hiking trips.

A convenient stop to stock up before you come to the house. You probably can buy anything you need there. Their fresh produce section is surprisingly good. I also like their frozen fish selection.

Worth visiting to get a feel what the old western towns were like. A number of western movies were filmed here. Combine with a visit to Pappy and Hariet's for great food and entertainment.
