History Museum
“Edgar Allan Poe, American author, poet, editor and literary critic and a part of the American Romantic movement met his wife in Baltimore. Edgar Allan Poe lived with his aunt, Maria Clemm, and her family in this small duplex on North Amity Street in Baltimore from about 1832 until fall 1835. The month of October is usually associated with the strange and mysterious, and in Baltimore that’s especially true when it comes to “Poe-tober.” October is the perfect time to explore Edgar Allan Poe’s macabre life, his enigmatic death and everything in between with only-in Baltimore exhibitions, events and tours.”

“At the heart of Balimore's toniest urban neighborhood is America's first Washington Monument. Climb the 227 steps for great views of the city, and when you're done enjoy the cruciform park that stretches out from the monument's base. Each wing has its own fountain and cultivated grounds -- a great place to spend an afternoon reading outside.”

“This national park is free and open to the public, although you have to pay to enter the fort itself. But take the 15-minute stroll around the fort and enjoy the beautiful park and views of Baltimore's inner and outer harbors. If you're lucky you may see a huge cargo ship passing by!”
