Bethesda, Gwynedd, Обединено кралство

The house is situated in Bethesda on the main A5 route and is in a very good location. I am within 10 minutes drive of Bangor and within 3 minutes drive from the main A55 route which can take you anywhere in North Wales or even Cheshire within an hour.

Bethesda in its hey day was a thriving town, built mainly to accommodate the 3000 quarrymen who worked the Penrhyn Quarry, now home to the newest local attraction 'Zip World' which is increasing in popularity and bringing in much needed tourism to the area.** I am only 10 minutes walk from 'ZIPWORLD' a major new attraction featured on the BBC's 'The One Show'. Come and ride the longest zipwire in the Northern hemisphere above the spectacular Penrhyn Quarry and reach speeds of 90mph - its the closest thing to sky diving but without jumping out of an airplane.

However Bethesda is much more to many people especially walkers, hikers and climbers as it is the gateway to Snowdonia with the National Park on it's doorstep.

This rugged northwest corner of Wales has rocky mountain peaks, glacier-hewn valleys, sinuous ridges, and sparkling lakes and rivers. Sheep and wild mountain goats graze on the heather covered hills.

There are delightful walks be be had in the immediate area for instance Aber Falls (a beautiful walk through a peaceful wooded glade alongside a stream twinkling in the dappled sunlight) and Idwal Lake (a 30 minutes walk to a beautiful cwm where you are surrounded by the majesty that is Snowdonia and where you cannot see or here any traffic, yet you are not that far from the road.

The RSPB reserves at Aber, Llanfaifechan, and at South Stack on Holy Island are a must for those interested in birdwatching as are the Glaslyn Ospreys, near Porthmadog and while in that vicinity why not visit the unique and beautiful Portmeirion Italianate Village - for those of you who remember the sixties it was the setting for the cult 1960's TV series 'The Prisoner'.

The beautiful Cwm Pennant also on the Lleyn peninsula is breathtaking in late spring, wildflowers are in bloom and you can here the buzz of the honey bees and the bleating of newly born lambs while birds of prey soar on the updraft, all without the noise and distraction of daily life - phones, traffic etc

There are many other places of interest, castles, such as National Trust property, Penrhyn Castle built on the spoils of the quarry and at the expense of the local people (where animosity towards the then Lord Penrhyn is still very much apparent to this day) is nevertheless a pleasing way to while a few hours. Quaint towns, such as Conwy town(beautiful walled town complete with fairytale castle and quaint shops- worth a visit and only 15 minutes drive) Betws y Coed(30 minutes drive again full of character and wonderful scenic walks) and typical charm-infused villages and welcoming pubs.

LLandudno town, a Victorian seaside town with a promenade along the beach and pier is within 15 minutes It is also close to Anglesey and its beautiful beaches and Coastal Path.

The Menai Straits divides the mainland from Anglesey is crossed by 2 bridges both very famous, the Menai Suspension bridge is particularly picturesque. Beaumaris at the eastern tip of the island is a very charming town with many exclusive restaurants, craft and gift shops.

The famous village of
LLanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllgogogoch is a mere 10 minutes drive and worth a visit just to take a selfie with the famous longest place name in the UK.

I could go on.

По време на престоя ви
I am an easy going person and I am happy to give recommendations for places to visit/eat and I'm generally in most evenings. I am a manager of a small sheltered house for the elder generation and work 3 days a week.

Please contact me before booking with any questions or special requirement you may have.

I have a good knowledge of mountain walks/treks and places 'off the beaten track' and if you want to see the 'real' Wales for a small fee and to cover any expenses (petrol if I drive) I am happy to take you on a walk/ trek to places you wouldn't necessarily have knowledge of. Please ask me for a quote if interested.
