Really unique cottage perched above Fort Pond with epic views and relaxed bohemian vibes. The cottage is private with a deck on shared grounds with a fire pit, hammocks, paddle boards, kayak, and lake access. The grounds are expertly landscaped and take full advantage of fort pond views.

We do live on the property full time and enjoy making our space a safe and clean environment.

This listing is for a well renovated, minimally furnished 2 bedroom 1 bath cottage was originally erected in the 1930s by a French-Canadian fisherman. The compound expanded with his family and includes the main house, a cedar cabin, this cottage, and a barn. The grounds are shared but the cottage is private.

The décor is a mix of bought and repurposed objects we have collected on our adventures. The compound has different levels, lots of lawn space and stairs directly down to the water. Fort Pond is more like a lake, 171 acres of pristine spring fed freshwater. Swim, kayak, and paddle board right from the backyard.

There are lots of windows to allow in light and cool the house in the summer, the most dramatic being the large windows in the living space and one bedroom over the pond

Here’s what you can expect:

*Convenient and easy access to the beach, bay, town, restaurants, and train or bus station.

*Air conditioning and heat.

*Our vibe is pretty relaxed and respectful of our neighbors, but we've made a place for people to hang out, have fun, and unplug.

* Spacious living with plenty of seating and a large dining table

* Stocked kitchen with plenty of counter space, a sink, fridge with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, a gas range with oven, almost everything you need to make great meals. The east end is abundant with fresh produce and seafood.

*Private bedrooms with Queen beds with high density mattresses.

*Linens, pillows and towels are provided.

*A private deck with table and chairs overlooking the lake.

*There are 2 daybeds in the living room. The large window affords you a sweeping view of the lake along with great sunrises and sunsets.

*Direct access to Fort Pond via stairs.

*Paddleboards, bicycles, kayak, and life vests (Memorial Day-Labor Day)

*A fire pit with wood included.

*Communal gas BBQ

*Spacious bathroom with marble floors, bathtub and updated shower fixtures.

*The rooms are cozy and have armoires and seating. The front bedroom has amazing views of Fort Pond.

*Wifi internet through out the property.

*Off street parking for one car. Seriously, you do not need a car here but you are welcome to bring one.

**Rates include a 3% Suffolk County Occupancy Tax

Fort Pond is a natural wonderland. The nature here is second to none and is very relaxing and inspiring. We are down the road to Sole East and 10 minutes to town and Kirk park beach by foot. There is a school park nearby that is great for all ages.

Welcome to Fort Pond House. We love to travel, collect treasure, eat street food and meet people who make things. Our love for DIY and repurposing old things is clearly visible through out our place.

After spending many summers in Montauk we came to love it here and fell in love with the Shepherd's Neck area and this compound, and in spite of the fact that it was neglected for many years and needed a lot of love, we made it our first home.

We have filled it with things we love, bought and found on our adventures near and far. We've transformed the yard into a garden that we share with a lot of birds and bees!

It's thoughtfully furnished and well appointed. We hope you will find respite here and enjoy the retreat as we do.

We live on the property full time and are very proud Montauk residents. We maintain a safe and clean property to enjoy.
