There is a sightseeing, excursion train that you can catch in either Santa Fe Rail area or out in Lamy.

Charming little place where you can hop onto the train to Los Angeles if you're so inclined! There's a busy bar and a little cafe almost on the tracks where you can get a snack like avacado toast. Visit the 19th century carriage on the grounds. There are often live music performances in the shade near the station.

It was like time traveling into the days of the Harvey Houses! The Amtrak Station at Lamy is a quick shuttle ride away from Santa Fe. Whether your heading North or South on Amtrak's Southwest Chief, you can catch the train in Lamy and it's so much more interesting and comfortable than making the trek to Albuquerque to connect. The station was recently taken over by volunteers, and the changes are immensely welcome! Walking through the station's doors is like stepping into the past with all of its antique benches, luggage and posters on the wall. Our train was delayed by almost two hours but instead of being bored and impatient all of the passengers were browsing the library with stories of how the Harvey Houses and station came into existence. We were encouraged to enjoy the plentiful snacks and bottled waters that were paid for on the honor system--you donated what you wanted, putting your dollars into a cookie jar. Plus, we were regaled with stories from a local explorer with his archive of petroglyph photos from nearby terrain. And, as if that weren't enough, there was also a lending library where you could take a free book or leave one behind. It was so easy to sit back and imagine all of the passengers from days gone by boarding or exiting the train at Lamy, sitting on the benches where you were sitting and looking at the same posters on the wall that it gave you a sense of time traveling for a moment.
