A day at the seaside in Eastbourne! If it's just swimming you're after then head towards Pevensey Bay, otherwise for children's activities head towards the pier. For free parking and swimming and closer access to the old town (plenty of cafes and small shops) head towards the eastern end of the seafront and Helen's Gardens (free on street parking on the seafront!)

If you like to be beside the seaside, Eastbourne is the sunniest beach in the UK. The headland protects the area from the weather, so even if it's cloudy in Brighton it might still be sunny in Eastbourne. There's loads to do, lots of shops and cafes and restaurants and a little train to take you up and down the prom.

Walk from the Town Hall down Grange Rd to the seafront. Flat, wide walkway and lovely deep beach at low tide.
