A cute mountain community nestled between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. This used to be a historic coal mining town but now is an artistic community full of creativity with galleries, one of a kind treasures, restaurants, and a museum.

If you head up to Santa Fe, spare the extra time to drive the Turquoise Trail and stop in one of the funky arts colonies along the way!

Funky old mining town where Wild Hogs was filmed, close to Santa Fe and Albuquerque- Cool stores with local artists and a great biker (family friendly) establishment known as the Mineshaft Tavern with live music and an awesome patio. I LOVE MADRID- but they call it "MAAADRID" ???

This is a must! If you come to Albuquerque or Rio Rancho, you have to go to Madrid/Turquoise Trail. It’s very enjoyable, they have different shops or settings to take pictures. In fact, the movie wild hogs was film here.

The old coal Mining town of Madrid - population about 150 -has been a favorite of many local Santa Feans who started to move there to just commit to their art. Madrid thrived in the past and after some years it thrives again. There is evidence of primitive mining in the Madrid area as early as the mid-1850's. It's Just a good close by get away. Good food, lots of art to check out and friendly people.
