Charleston was saved from British occupation, and the fort was named in honor of its commander, Colonel. William Moultrie. In 1780 the British finally captured Charleston, abandoning it only on the advent of peace.

This is a great walk from either the Mount Pleasant or the Charleston side. There are benches along the way to stop and take in the views. Parking on the Mount Pleasant side is at the intersection of Coleman Blvd and Patriots Point Blvd. Some along the street and in the gas station at the corner.

It is an absolute must see for anyone visiting Charleston South Carolina. It is on everyone’s top ten list of things to do in Charleston. Despite being located on John’s Island, the Angel Oak has come to symbolize Charleston South Carolina.

This is a great beach! Less than 5 miles from the house. Good for reading a book, swimming, walking, running or just napping! Our favorite time is to go about 5pm and watch the sun go down!

Until Hurricane Hugo, this was the bridge from Mount Pleasant to Sullivan's Island. The bridge was ruined but they have turned what is left into a park and fishing pier. Wonderful spot to relax, walk and watch the sunset. You are able to see the Cooper River Bridge from here with the sun setting behind it. Beautiful picture spot!

Nice boardwalk right at the end of Pelzer Drive, less than 3 city blocks from our home. It will take you along Shem Creek with views of the famous Shrimp Boats. Fishing is allowed and encouraged from this boardwalk.
