This is such a great day out that caters for families or couples. It has some really fun cycle paths for all abilities - you can hire bikes for all ages.
Immerse yourself in the wood for a fabulous walk and take a picnic, or there is a cafe there to get food.
Great for families - it has a really good family playground trail and natural playground. It also has a kids Go Ape and an adults version.
Entrance is based on the car parking - around £12 per car but it is well worth every penny.

This is an unusual place set in the grounds of a lovely house. It has an 'enchanted forest' vibe and as you walk the trail you encounter a pirate ship climbing frame, giant swings, treetop walks and lots more. Also look out for the 'Zedonk' - half donkey, half zebra...it is actually a thing!
During the holidays they usually have a themed event where they hire actors that dotted around the site and keep the theme alive. Great for an age range from 3-8.
My only negative is the cafe there. Terribly overpriced and terrible food to match. Take your own would be my advice as the place is great fun.

As always with National Trust, you have a nice cafe and there is usually a trial children can follow if you have a family.

This has the best National Trust cafe I have been to. Great gardens, from vegetable to formal and then a mill house and fields to explore further.

A lovely destination that has something for everyone. Great gardens to explore, along with the main house, then you can hire a boat on the it's lake or it has a really great castle play structure for children.
It's not a cheap day out as the entrance is quite pricey but you do get a lot for your money.
It does have a restaurant / cafe to get food or there is a decent pub on the corner called King Henry Vlll with a garden which you can come out and go to as another option.

I love this pub for 2 reasons. The owners are bonkers....in a good way and it has to be one of the best scenic pub gardens around. Food is great too. Go on a sunny day, you won't regret it!

We love this restaurant for the quality of it's local produce and the intimacy of the location. You feel like you are in someones farmhouse kitchen.

A large gastro pub that delivers a good standard of food. It is really good if you are meeting friends as they have nice large tables. There is a small garden outside with a swing, and tractor to play on. Nice easy atmosphere.

The food is very good too. It is a day-time place, and is used often as a unique location hire for weddings and parties.
There are good mountain biking tracks and you can have a nice wonder around the forest afterwards.
