Food scene
Portland is an old mill town that has been built up over the last few years. It is vibrant and has so much happening and I have read reviews which compares it to Brooklyn NY. It is a great place for foodies to check out- read the articles from the Boston Globe that I printed out before you go so you know where to eat and what to get. It is less than an hour ride and you could go and spend the day shopping, eating and drinking and walking along the waterfront.

Downtown NH is another fun place to visit. It is 45 min away by car. The downtown is along the water and has many unique, non chain stores to wander through as well as places for food and cocktails.

Once you have checked out all 3 stores, move along to the other outlet shops in the same area. When you go you can park your car and walk from shop to shop in a relatively small area.
