Running through the heart of downtown is Main Street, and branching off this main drag are colorfully named streets such as Pineapple, Orange, Lemon and Palm. More shops and colorful bungalows turned into bakeries, galleries, salons and yoga studios surround central downtown and are divided into five districts: Burns Court, Towles Court, Rosemary District, Historic Palm Avenue and Gillespie Park. Even more is waiting to be discovered at Bayfront Park, Southside Village and other nearby locales.

The gorgeous soft white sands of the island beckon you to days of relaxing in the sun with your family and watching the waves with an umbrella and drink, swimming in clear Gulf waters, shell hunting, walking or biking along the shore, sandcastle building and so much more. Booking my vacation home is surely one of the best ways to experience the beaches here. Its only 4 miles from that beach!

The 66-acre winter estate of railroad, real-estate and circus baron John Ringling and his wife, Mable, is one of the Gulf Coast’s premier attractions and incorporates their personal collection of artworks in what is now Florida’s state art museum. Nearby, Ringling’s Circus Museum documents his theatrical successes, while their lavish Venetian Gothic home, Cà d’Zan, reveals the impresario’s extravagant tastes. Don’t miss the PBS-produced film on Ringling’s life, which is screened in the Circus Museum.
