A beautiful swimming hole at the bottom can be a perfect spot to wash off the sweat and mud from the trip here, though it’s often too deep and cold for a dip. The departure point is the small town of El Limón, only half an hour from Las Terrenas.

Reaching El Limón waterfall is an adventure that takes you on a 2.5-kilometer (1.5-mile) journey through thick forest, on horseback or on foot down lush hilly terrain, while spotting flora and fauna along the way. Birds are also ubiquitous, like the palmchat–the DR’s national bird–the Hispaniolan woodpecker, and the Broad-billed tody. Once at the falls, marvel at the beauty of El Limón’s tumbling cascade–dropping 40 meters (130 feet) from the top of Sierra de Samaná. Cool off from the journey in the freshwater emerald pool beneath the falls, and take in the surrounding wild, jungle landscape and gushing sounds of El Limón.

El Museo pretende rescatar y preservar la historia de todos esos héroes nacionales que en un determinado momento quedaron "olvidados" en las mentes de los dominicanos. The Dominican Resistance Memorial Museum is a memorial museum in honor of all the men and women who fought in one way or another against the dictatorial regime of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina and during the modern regime of Joaquín Balaguer and all those families who lost his relatives during the bloody "Era of Trujillo" and the following "12 years of Balaguer" that really were 22 (12 and 10).
