Part of The Smithsonian, the Coastal Discovery Museum showcases some history and nature around the island. Bring sunscreen as much of the museum is outside. Admission is free, but certain events are not. (The petting zoo had admission while we were there).

The famous Hilton Head Island lighthouse. It's worth going up to see the view of the harbor and the surrounding islands. Also a great place to get pictures.
