Wooden Hot Tub Spa FAQs

What does natural mean?

Our Hot Tub spa is 100% oak, pine & larch wood, filled with fresh water, wood-fired and candlelit. So no chemicals or electricity - just fresh water & the incredible antiseptic and healing qualities of wood - it's delightful!

Why do we have to book a session?

Our spa takes 7 hours to clean, fill with 1700 litres of water and heat up to 38-40 degrees. We follow a strict draining and sanitising regime in line with World Health Organisation recommendations. We start preparations for spa guests at 9am so that evening spa sessions can begin at 5-6pm in the evening.

As a natural Spa, start times can vary slightly depending on the outdoor temperature and air pressure affecting heating times. Guest are asked to vacate the spa area by 8pm so that our staff can lock the facilities and return to their homes and families for the evening.

What else do I need to know?

Guests are provided with fresh Turkish towels and changing rooms. Alcohol is strictly not permitted in the Spa area. Children are only permitted to attend our 'morning spa sessions'. Children must wear the provided safe bathing shoes and floats and must be accompanied at all times. Children under 4 will be provided with a child safe play area inside the spa, where they must remain supervised during the session. Our spa staff will also adjust the bath waters to child friendly heat and PH levels. If you'd like to book, please get in touch with us directly.

• Tea & Pub Recommendations •

We're lucky enough to have an excellent pub restaurant 'The Hope & Anchor' near us in South Ferriby, (13 min drive) which we wholeheartedly recommend not only for it's food but also it's Humberside Views. It has won many national awards. Tea and cakes can be best enjoyed in Barton's Ropewalk Art Gallery and Museum.

If you have any additional queries or requests please do not hesitate to contact us, it would be our pleasure to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

We simply can't wait to host you!i

Hi there! We're Marina, Robert, Max, Emily and Leopold - The Elwes Family!

We've lived and travelled to many places across Europe so we appreciate the joy of feeling at home in new places and love to host! Our daughter Emily, who mostly lives from Barcelona, Spain, helps us manage our listings, so if you're thinking of spending time with us you're likely to be chatting to her.

Based in the countryside we love sharing our farm, yurt and house with guests.
On an average day you'll catch us looking after our sheep, gardening and fixing things in the farm.

We have a great love of all things creative and historical. As a family of many varied interests (our professions vary from Archeologist to Shepard to Interior Designer and Carpenter) we regularly host groups for hen parties, wellness retreats, weddings and archeological weekends - take your pick!

The Manor house dates back to Medieval times, is featured in the Domesday book, and was restored to become our family home 15 years ago. One of its quirks is that is features over 9 different staircases (perfect for playing hide and seek)! Its name, Sawcliffe, stands for 'Saw' - Windmill, 'Cliffe' - Hilltop, meaning it can be quite a windy spot depending on the time of the year!

The farm is home to some rather unusual natural landscapes including a wild rabbit warren which has been listed as a SSI (Site of Scientific Interest) and also now home to a herd of wild Exmoor ponies.

Today the Manor is also features our 60m2 Yurt which we use for family parties, Scottish Dancing and Knott-Tying Ceremonies, a recently renovated Victorian cottage and a former dove-cot turned non-dominational chapel for ceremonies.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to message us! We love hearing from you and are very flexible to individual needs.

Looking forward to meeting you!
