Relax in your room and make a warm drink; better still, stroll in the large, riverside garden or fire up the barbecue ... and enjoy the tranquility of the Clare countryside.

With Shannon Airport only a short distance away, Ennis is the ideal place from which to explore Ireland’s mid-west—the Wild Atlantic Way, the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Burren, Bunratty Castle, Aillwee Cave, Lisdoonvarna and much more.

Welcome to Ardilaun House!

Помещението
The double bedroom is at entrance-floor level with views across the back garden to the river Fergus and the Irish countryside beyond ... a peaceful haven for the weary traveller.

The room itself has a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and is furnished with casual seating, a wardrobe and a dressing table, a small table and includes a TV, wifi and facilities for making tea and coffee. The breakfast room is just along the corridor.

The extensive garden includes large artworks and a riverside decked area with seating, tables and a barbecue where you can even catch and cook your own dinner, straight from the Fergus.

Ardilaun House has ample free parking space but you’ll not need the car for the 600m walk to Ballyallia Lake, an important site for waterbirds and one that has been recognised as a wetland of international importance. There is good access to lakeside walks around Ballyallia and kayaks and stand-up boards are available for hire in July and August. (See ‘Other things to note’ below for details of other attractions, amenities and services in and around Ennis.)

Ardilaun has invested in an ozone generator to facilitate the daily sterilisation of all rooms; in addition we are committed to following all current safety procedures.

Достъп на гостите
Shannon Airport’s proximity ensures that access to Ennis and Ardilaun couldn’t be easier ... just 22 minutes by car. Ardilaun is therefore the perfect overnight stop before returning home ... or safe haven when you first land in Ireland.

From junction 14 of the M18—from Galway in the north or Shannon Airport to the south—Ardilaun is only 3km (2 miles) south on the main road (the R458) towards Ennis. If you’re approaching Ennis via other routes, Ardilaun is on the R458 between Ennis and Barefield.

Shannon Airport and Ennis Bus & Railway Station are linked by two bus services every hour. Bus Eireann route 51 takes 30 minutes and route the 343 takes another 15 minutes; there are also regular rail services between Limerick (40 minutes) and Galway (1 hour 5 minutes) that stop here.

As Ardilaun is not served by any onward public transport from the Station (it’s a 45-minute walk), arrangements can be made to collect guests at the Bus & Railway Station.

Pick-up at Shannon Airport can also be arranged through a reliable, local taxi service (number available on request). If the driver has your flight details, he will check its progress online and be there when you arrive.

Други неща за отбелязване
As well as being the county town of Clare, Ennis is an historical market town that has lost none of its intrinsic charm. It is the perfect blend of the old and the new and offers the traveller every modern amenity ... superb restaurants embracing most cuisines—Asian fusion to Italian, Thai to Indian—and traditional Irish bars where you can always find live traditional music or a quiet corner.

In May and November the town hosts there are traditional Irish music festivals and Ennis bars and pubs are particularly busy. In addition, in the first week of March there is the renowned Ennis Book Club Festival which attracts writers, poets and broadcasters from Ireland and beyond and many of these musical and literary events take place in the Glór, Ennis’ prestigious theatre and arts centre.

Just 400 metres from Ardilaun, the Auburn Lodge has both a restaurant and a bar while, if you prefer an evening out in the town, there is easy parking close to the many restaurants and bars, some of which also serve food. Alternatively, if you prefer a night in, then many restaurants offer a delivery service and the area boasts numerous Takeaways, all just a phone-call away. Snacks, other foodstuffs and beverages are available at the nearby Lidl.

The town is well served by public transport and, as well as buses to and from Shannon Airport, Galway, Limerick and Cork, in addition there are bus local services to the coast at Kilrush, Kilkee, Lahinch and the Cliffs of Moher and, in the opposite direction, Bunratty Castle. Timetables are available online at Buseireann and Dublincoach websites (Bunratty / Limerick / Dublin).

There is additional information on these and all other locations and attractions for which County Clare is well-known—as well as detailed maps of the area—at the town’s Museum and Tourist Information Centre. Here too you can plan and arrange day trips as diverse as trip to the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, including a boat trip to one of the Aran Islands or a boat-trip out into the mouth of the Shannon from Carrigaholt in search of the bottlenose dolphin.

In addition to such sightseeing locations, Clare has lots to offer to both the more energetic traveller and those who prefer more leisurely activities ... there’s everything from horse-riding to surfing and golf to angling and countless opportunities for casual walks on lake and coastal paths or taking to the hills.

To get to know Ennis up close and personal, there are daily walking tours (both group and private tours can be arranged) when, as well as discovering that local TD (Member of Parliament), Éamon de Valera, was Ireland’s longest serving Taoiseach (Prime Minister) your hear about tales of famine and poverty, murders and hangings, rebellions and riots ... and maybe even Mohammed Ali.
Relax in your room and make a warm drink; better still, stroll in the large, riverside garden or fire up the barbecue ... and enjoy the tranquility of the Clare countryside.
