5 minute drive to downtown Saint Michaels! Welcome to the Royal Oak House, a 4 bed 4 bath, beautifully renovated, grand Victorian built in 1883. This amazing home began as a Methodist parsonage and subsequently has seen many incarnations as a private home, B&B and event venue, and now as a luxurious vacation home. Tucked across the road from The Oaks/Waterfront Inn & Wedding Venue the Royal Oak House sits on just over .5 acres landscaped with overflowing English style gardens, climbing roses, blushing peonies, and wandering wisteria perfuming the air. Nature’s beauty fascinates and inspires from three large porches twinkling with café lights and an abundance of comfortable seating. Or wander the grounds to the fire pit, three outdoor eating areas, outdoor grill, or simply sit and watch the sunset over the idyllic Maryland fields behind the home. But the beauty isn’t just outside.

Inside the Royal Oak House is a fantasy of whimsy and magic. A professional interior designer lived in the home for six months personally creating the work of art you will stay in. You will delight in the garden bedrooms shades of soothing green with windows that look out to the sculptural honeysuckle tree, the navigators’ suite with gold leaf moon and stars, the sunset suites’ embrace in warm tangerine, and the children’s suites’ dancing turquoise of midday sky. The kitchen swims in hues of blue and boasts every implement a chef would require. The kitchen-aid stand mixer, electric skillet, waffle iron, instapot, crockpot, baking trays, pots, pans, and barware will make your cooking dreams come true. A church pew serves as ample seating around the dining table with barely there clear ghost chairs on the other side.

Entertainment awaits in the living room with a cleverly hidden 55” smart TV and seating for everyone to watch the game. Forty streaming channels meet your entertainment needs or sign into any apps you desire. Or perhaps you let the TV disappear and it’s a space for conversation, laughter and games. Bordering the living room, the open entryway at the base of the grand staircase whisks you into imagination with a hand-painted mural of the Chesapeake. Perched atop the staircase is the library, full to bursting with numerous books of every type for every age, including the full Harry Potter series. The stories in the pages of the books leap into reality with huge intertwined tree trunks, golden paper wasps and a rainbow natural stone collection gracing the room.

Finally, the house outdoes itself with a private yoga studio/workout space complete with tension bands, weights, kettle bells, yoga mats and organic disinfecting spray. A cozy napping corner with daybed waits just around the corner. Ultimately the crowning glory of the interior design, the Harry Potter room, is a world unto itself with authentic details handcrafted and so precise you will feel like you’re in the books yourself. It really is a wonder that you have to experience to understand.

Whether you’re looking for relaxation, invigoration, nature, beauty, or the exquisite charm of the St. Michaels area, The Royal Oak House will deliver on all fronts.  If you’re curious about the long history of the house, a heartwarming book was written about it that gained notoriety in Maryland and beyond when it was converted into a B&B. It’s called “The House at Royal Oak” by Carol Eron Rizzoli and there’s a copy in the library.

Pets are welcome but we ask to keep them off the furniture. We ask that you don't use our linens to clean your pets. We do charge a one time $150 pet fee left in cash (or paid via payment app) at check in since our maid charges extra to clean when pets stay. Thank you!

My name is Nick and I'm a Dentist in the Air Force. I grew up in a small town outside of Seattle called Enumclaw. I went to college at BYU and subsequently dental school in Louisville Kentucky. Since working for the military I've lived in Las Vegas Nevada, South Korea, Germany, Hawaii, Washington DC, and now Panama City Florida. Aside from dentistry I love photography and being outside enjoying nature. You can most often find me on some outdoor adventure, taking pictures (whether it's a gorgeous sunset or some ridiculous dessert), working out to maintain my fitness, or spending time with friends and family. And speaking of dessert I have quite an intense sweet tooth. I know, a dentist with a sweet tooth, I've heard all the jokes you can imagine in this scenario but it's true! My husband Spencer is originally from Iowa but most recently lived in Los Angeles before moving to Hawaii so we could get married and start our life together. He works in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. In addition to fitness he's worked in interior design and visual merchandising, entertainment, music, and jewelry design. He's usually looking for some creative endeavor to get involved in. While we spend a lot of time obligated to work, we try to take time to get out and explore. We have found great places to eat and fun things to do and are happy to share our knowledge!
