I recently moved to Corpus Christi after living in Fairbanks, Alaska for 25 years. In order to learn more about this community, I began volunteering at the Texas State Aquarium, the women’s shelter, and will participate in the effort to protect the Kemp’s ridley sea turtles at the National Seashore on Padre Island in the spring.

I enjoy reading (I was a librarian for 20 years), and love to discuss books and promote the services provided by the local public libraries. I am an avid biker and walker, and have enjoyed exploring the parks and beaches in this area. I hiked and camped all over Alaska when I lived there, and transferring love of movement to the local beaches has been fun. I also plan to explore Texas’s state parks. I try to travel internationally every couple of years; last year I visited Colombia and Ecuador.

Because I’m new to this area, I’ve spent the past months exploring the area and will happily share what I have learned with you and look forward to learning what you have enjoyed about your visit. I enjoy meeting new people and am finding Corpus Christi to be a welcoming community and hope that you experience that as well.
