Included in your price is power and internet (reasonable use), we do your weekly houseclean, weekly linen and towel change, minor repairs and maintenance, lawns and garden care. Secure off-street parking.

Your hosts are retirees, not vaccinated. We live in the stand-alone granny flat and most of the time we are your onsite security. We are believers in Jesus.

The comfortably furnished open plan lounge has a 40" Smart TV, a desk, and a dining suite. The two couches can serve for guests to sleep overnight (we are limited to total 5 sleeping, for insurance and local bylaw). The owners live in another building on site, therefore no pets and no parties.

One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds, which makes for flexible sleeping arrangements.

There are also comfortable outdoor living spaces, and ready access to walking tracks and water activities.

Out the windows you regularly see horses, ducks, geese, pukeko, plover, and sometimes tui, kereru, pheasants. Due to the water hazards we consider it not suitable for children under 5.

Within walking distance is VR Rotorua Lakes Resort with its restaurant and bar, Pikiao Rugby League Club, a country store, and takeway shop.

Forestry bush walks nearby.
5 minutes drive to Bay of Plenty Trailer Yacht Squadron dry stand and ramp at Okawa Bay. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in the nearby Kaituna River.

A shared path cycleway is under construction to take you to Okere Falls. We have a couple of bikes you can use.

Whangamarino School is our local kura, and takes class year 1 to class year 8. There is a school bus stop nearby.

Rotorua CBD is less than 30 minutes drive away, Te Puke 30 minutes in the other direction, and Whakatane or Tauranga about 60 minutes.

If you need to use Rotorua airport we can drop you and pick you up - leave your work vehicle with us while you go home: saves on parking fees!

Mourea is central to many outdoor activities. We are just far enough from the main road to avoid most traffic, but close enough to everything you need. Our street is a mix of holiday homes and retired permanents. Occasionally boy racers from out of the area will briefly disrupt the peace, but they don't stay long for fear of police. There is no fibre in our street but the wifi is good speed 4G wireless.

I am a well travelled Dutchman, 69 years old and married to a Thai lady. I am ex-military, engineering background. I love Jesus, I love Blues music (BB King, Santana), and I used to sail when I was stronger. Nowadays I work part-time driving a school bus, as well as hosting. I wish I had learnt to play a musical instrument and I admire anyone who can. I have a few other regrets, but I'm forgiven.

Your hosts are Da and Piet.

Da came from Thailand in 1998 for holiday , came back to work in New Zealand in 1999, and lived here since. She is a NZ citizen since 2007, and worked at Rembrandt Suit Company, Mt Maunganui College, and Novatel Lakeside Rotorua. She is married to Piet since 2014. Da is an excellent cook, and a grandma since 2010.

Piet is born in Holland, retired, ex-NZ army with engineering background, and with reasonable notice can act as your guide, driver, or barbeque cook. Piet's help and little workshop can cope with most minor repairs should you require. Also willing to run small errands for you within reason.

Each is fluent in his/her own laguage, and both have a fair grasp of English. We enjoy outdoors, Bible study, and we though we are hopeless at pingpong, badminton, darts, and shooting netball hoops, we enjoy having a go. Some sports gear for your use.

You may use our two single person open top kayaks and our trailer (if your car has a towbar). Also we have a couple of bikes, reasonable use no extra charge.

Consumables such as soap, toilet paper, etc. will be there when you arrive, but as they run out you will need to replenish at your expense. Also there will be some basics for your first breakfast in the pantry. Nga mihi. Power, Internet, rates etc. are included in the price, as this is a long term bnb not a rental house.
