Previously a luxury b&b winning consistent exceptional awards the whole of the top (first) floor is now a spacious self contained truly dog friendly guest suite sleeping up to 5 people.
Access is through your private enclosed garden into the lounge, and involves no internal stairs. With all rooms made ready for you, there are lots of additional extras not seen in other establishments. These give you a 'home from home' feeling, in a place that's close to the lakes yet away from the crowds.

The apartment has it's own external entrance, off road parking, private enclosed garden with terraced seating area and dusk to dawn lighting, lounge, hall, 2 spacious en-suite bedrooms, kitchen/dining room and utility room. Situated on the edge of the village with a community shop and dog friendly pub 100 yards along the road, we are on a good road network allowing easy access to all areas of the Lake District, north Lancashire and into Yorkshire. The apartment has views of Whitbarrow Scar, the gardens and surrounding area.
Although on the first floor there are no internal stairs to reach the apartment. Access is from the drive, up 4 steps into your garden, along a sloping path with hand rail to the 4 steps leading to the balcony. From the balcony you enter the apartment through the French doors.
With being the Retired Greyhounds South Lakes (RGSL) homing centre we are truly dog friendly and welcome dogs large or small, one or more. There is a £30.00 charge for dogs, which includes throws for your beds/settee, raised feeding stands, assorted dog dishes, towels, shampoo, and a few other essentials and treats for them. With being a homing centre we also have a variety of other items you may need or have forgotten to brings, so please ask.
With our guests using the garden at the right hand side of the house and our greyhounds using the one on the left, we have in between the two gardens another private garden growing on the bed rock bank at the back of the house. This runs the full length of the house and is a 'dog free' zone.

Inside the Lake District National Park on the outskirts of Witherslack village with a dog friendly pub and village shop 100 yards along the road, filling station 1/2 mile away. Views of Whitbarrow Scar and walks from the door step including Latterbarrow Nature Reserve. We are situated close to the lakes but away from the crowds

I've been in the hospitality industry most of the time since leaving school to go to Blackpool Technical College where I obtained the Ordinary National Diploma in Hotel & Catering Operations. From there I passed the H.C.I.M.A. (Hotel, Catering International Catering Association) exam and gained the distinguished letters after my name in 1974.
Since then I've worked in a variety of hospitality establishments at management level including being in charge of a school kitchen serving 500 meals a day, hotels, restaurants and a caravan park.
I took nine years off work, other than part time in a local pub to have and care for my 3 children. When I went back to work again it was into administration because the hours were more appropriate with the children and being on my own to look after them.
I met my second husband in 1991 and in 1993 I married and moved to Beech Hill House in Cumbria, which Stuart converted from a 4 bedroom bungalow to a big family home. He did this at a time when the A590 was being built and with it being close to the road he designed it in such a way it could be converted to a bed and breakfast should anyone wish in the future.
Beech Hill House was our family home and I set up in business with my husband doing payroll, accounts and administration training, support and assistance work for a number of businesses, many in the hospitality industry.
In 2008 when the recession hit both my husband and I found our work declined rapidly due to a number of factors and in order to stay in the house we had to change direction quite fast. We turned the house into a very successful dog friendly bed and breakfast with a 9.6 rating, 9 consecutive Certificates of Excellence and 3 Hall of Fame Certificates. After nearly 12 years of running the bed and breakfast we turned the whole of the first (top) floor into a high quality self-catering apartment and received our first guests on the 4th July 2020.
