Luxury two bedroom penthouse with terrace, and rooftop and garden swimming pools in a catalogued former liquor factory in the centre of Barcelona, just one block off Mercado San Antonio.

We designed it with love and attention to detail. It's equipped with luxury bathroom and kitchen appliances, e.g. Smeg induction cooking field. We furnished it with antiques, design classics and modern furniture, wooden floor and antique tiles. All rooms have air-conditioning and heating. Rental min. 30 days.

The house used to be liquor factory built in 1900. It has been carefully restored in 2018, preserving the beautiful facade, stairways and other key architectural elements such as the iron arches in the garden. Everything else has been completely redone in top quality. Two community pools (shared with only a few other neighbors) have been built, one in the garden and one on the roof with views across all sides of Barcelona, including the cathedral.

The two-bedroom apartment is on the top floor. It has so much sun light and such long views that even the grimiest weather seems lovely from inside. But the apartment really plays out all charms when the weather allows you to enjoy one of the community pools or your private terraces. One terrace is along the entire side of the flat, with access from both bedrooms, kitchen and living room. The other one is a roof top terrace allowing you to dine under the stars being surrounded by luscious green palms. And there's the beautiful, shared rooftop terrace with a plunge pool.

We have bought the apartment as a second home for us and only rent it out as long as our main home is still in Berlin. Inside the apartment you will immediately realize that: We have designed it with love and attention to detail. We have equipped it with luxury bathroom and kitchen appliances, which we always would love to but never find in vacation homes: Duravit, Smeg induction cooking field and oven, top-end Siemens fridge, freezer, and dish washer. We furnished it with antiques, design classics and modern furniture. Whereas the bedrooms and the living room have timber floor, high quality modern tiles were chosen for the guest bathroom and antique originals from the buildig for the kitchen and the master bathroom. All bed and living rooms have the typical Catalonian vaulted ceilings, air-conditioning and heating.

LIVING ROOM: The living room has a sofa corner, a dining table and open kitchen. We never use it, but TV lovers may enjoy a 40’ 4K Samsung TV with local and international public and pay TV channels and Internet access. For football lovers, we can upgrade our subscription to include your country’s football league and champions league, but you will have to tell us in advance. Three doors give access to the terrace (more than ten meters long) which we mostly use when eating, drinking or relaxing.
The living room also has an open, fully equipped kitchen (induction stove, oven, dish washer, large fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, washing machine)

BEDROOMS:
- Bordering the living room, you find the smaller of the 2 bedrooms (guest room) which also has access to the balcony and hosts a single bed (80x200 cm) which can be extended to double (160x200 cm). Opposite you find the guest shower bathroom.
- The master bedroom at the end of the apartment is larger, has a double bed (160x200 cm), a built-in closet, a private en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, and also has access to the balcony.

BATHROOMS:
- One bathroom attached to the master bedroom with a bathtub
- One bathroom for guests accessible from the corridor and right opposite the smaller bedroom, with a shower

TERRACE and GARDEN:
- Right in front of your bedroom, kitchen and living room is your private, sunny terrace that's more than 10 m long (see photos). It is equipped with comfy and stylish Acapulco Chairs plus coffee table and a small dining/breakfast table with 2 chairs.
- If you want to hang out outside with an even better view over the roofs of Barcelona than on your private terrace, you can use the shared roof top terrace. The community roof top terrace is on the roof of the neighboring building, accessible from inside the house. It has a plunge pool, beautiful wooden decking and banana tree type of plants that shield you off the neighbours and provide for a luscious background. We share it between ~15 neighbors and have so far never seen it too crowded.
- The garden with a second, bigger pool is shared with just a few neighbors and a peaceful, beautiful place to relax. If you need a break from the sun and heat, the garden pool is your best bet.

Besides the apartment, which you have exclusively to yourself, you can use the shared garden with pool and a rooftop terrace with a second, smaller pool (both shared among 15 apartments).

CLEANING: We care for our property and want to maintain it in good shape, for the benefit of all our guests. Therefore we expect the apartment to be cleaned by professional cleaning service every 2 weeks (or more frequently if you prefer).
We have a good, reliable cleaning service that you can book, with times according to your convenience. They have a key and we have negotiated a good price of 14€/h (we promise: not a cent of that goes to us). Depending on the state of the apartment they usually need 2-3 hours for cleaning, plus time for laundry and changing sheets if you wish to use them for that. We hope you consider this a valuable extra service.

CHECKIN: We use a professional service to welcome you and handle the checkin. They offer evening/late night/sunday checkin at your convenience, but charge extra for this service. if you’d like to use the special evening/late night/sunday checkin service the following additional charges apply (to be paid directly during checkin):
- Sunday: 10€
- After 10 p.m.: 20€
- After midnight and before 7 a.m.: 30€
- 24, 25, 31 December or 1 January: 30€

From our point of view, the apartment is perfectly located: In a quiet street, yet just one block off Saint Antoni market, which is beautiful and caters for all the delicacies you could wish for. Exiting the house, you can choose between the hip yet also traditional Spanish San Antonio in the West or the ethnically colourful old town in the North-East with all its sights in walking distance.

San Antoni is the most trendy neighborhood in Barcelona, with new hip restaurants and cool bars opening everywhere but keeping it's traditional charm. TimeOut describes it as "a current fave among city hipsters, Sant Antoni has undergone a style revolution in the past few years. Sant Antoni is a rarity we've all got to look after. It's the fragile balance between old and new, where you'll find a Barcelona that's unfortunately disappearing – one past generations cultivated, where so much of life was lived in the city's streets and squares and all the neighbours knew each other – and where you'll also find the very latest trends in fashion and gastronomy." Carrer del Parlament, probably the most beautiful street of the neighborhood, is literally just across the street from our house.

South takes you to the equally lively Poble Sec and within 5 minutes you hit the mountain Montjuic, which is great for running and other sports. The Barceloneta beach is a 30 minute walk, which you can design to pass nice old town sights such as Ramblas, Gran Teatre de Liceu, Plaça Reial, Palau de Güell, the monastery Sant Pau del Camp, the maritime museum, the mirador de Colon the aquarium, and others. The cathedral is fifteen minutes walking distance. If you like art as much as we do, you will enjoy that you can reach the contemporary art museum in 10, the Dali and Gaudi exhibitions in 15, and the Picasso and the Miro museums in 20 minutes walking.
