Quintessential, cosy and completely charming Grade II Listed, two bedroom Cotswold stone cottage, at heart of Bibury "the most beautiful village in England." directly opposite the famous Arlington Row & perched across the road from tranquil River Coln. Built in the 17th century, Sackville House retains its beautiful original features of exposed beams, stonework and timber doors.
Swan Hotel, Trout Farm&shop<3 min walk.
Cribbs Barn & Stone Barn<8 min drive.

Stackville House is laid out over three floors on The Street in the heart of Bibury. The house has an enviable picturesque waterfront position directly overlooking the River Coln with views over the private garden patio to the river and water meadows.

The house was built in the 1400’s so is beautiful with many quaint original features.

Please note- these features also mean that there is a head height restriction in the bathroom and second floor bedroom; that the kitchen and lounge are bijou and the steps outside and inside are many and often narrow! We think this adds to the charm but, we also want any guests to know this before booking so as not to disappoint! .... If you’re unfazed..... read on!

The private garden terrace is perfectly located to pour yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine; relax on the garden bench and watch the idyllic Cotswold village life and Bibury's many swans flat by!

Stackville House's ground floor has a lounge and dining space with a small kitchenette area opening out from the lounge (sofa bed also provided in the lounge space). Here you can curl up in front of the fire* after a walk around Bibury or the surrounding Cotswold's; relax playing board games or enjoy a fantastic meal provided or our personal Chef Mike after waning away an afternoon sightseeing or exploring the beauty of the Cotswolds right on your doorstep.

Climb the original 17th century stair to the first floor (rope handle rail and restricted space mean that this maybe be unsuitable for those with restricted mobility) where the Master Bedroom with king size bed and luxury mattress makes your sleep as comfortable as your stay. Waking up in this room to the Cotswold birdsong and light pouring through the open windows in summer with uninterrupted views out across the water meadows and Arlington Row is a delight!

The good sized wetroom bathroom with level access stand up shower and window to gaze out over the river whilst having a scrub! NOTE head height is restricted due to the original oak beams and pitch of ceiling.

The attic and second bedroom are accessed via a characterful 18th century spiral stair (again suitability for those with restricted mobility may pose a challenge) is a dream come true; the oak beamed space with picturesque iron frames windows, a luxury double bed and mattress and your own beautiful roll top bath encourages you to light some candles and enjoy a long luxurious soak after a days walk whilst enjoying the beautiful views out over Bibury, Arlington row and the river.

Sackville House is positioned above the high street enabling beautiful views from the small private garden across Arlington Row, water meadows and the river. access from the High Street to Sackville House's door is via seven steps; five on the path plus two to the gate and garden (warning for any mobility issues - there maybe challenges to access).

There are some fantastic walks from our door taking in the beautiful river Coln, open Cotswold countryside and numerous fantastic traditional pubs!

We have fitted a key safe so you will be able to check yourselves in at any time throughout the day without contact with your hosts - although we are only down the road!

You are able to use all of the cottage (but the basement is out of bounds!).

Parking is free at all times and available on the street less than 500 yards from the front door.

Please feel free to contact me for any queries. I am happy to help and can be available in emergencies.

A variety of luxury welcome hampers are available on request to greet guests on arrival. Please get in touch to allow this to be arranged.

Our Private Chef Mike can provide beautiful 'a fair bit more than your average takeaway' home delivery of beautiful bespoke menus on request. Please get in touch to allow this to be arranged.

The swan hotel is less than 2 minutes walk from the house along the beautiful river colne; the Catherine Wheel is only 7 minutes across the beautiful water meadow and past Arlington row, with the trout farm and 'The Twig' the village shop in between the two for your daily basics (and some trout!).

The Market towns of historic Cirencester, Tewksbury and charming Fairford with well provisioned local shops, coffee houses plus some wonderful restaurants and pubs. Both high streets have lovely local markets every week and well stocked supermarkets/local convenience stores less than 15 minutes from Sackville House's doorstep.

All the gorgeous and charming north Cotswold towns such as Stow on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Blockley and Bourton-on-the-Water are less than 30 minutes drive.

Oxford is less than 50 minutes from the door step with its historical architecture and fantastic sights and museums.

Free at all times <500 yards from house on the high street. No Restrictions.

* fire is electric
** guests are asked to use the stairs sensibly and note that the hosts accept no liability for any injuries occurring in the house.

Къде ще бъдете

Bibury, England, Обединеното кралство

Bibury is a charming, typical Cotswold village spanning both banks of the River Coln; a tributary of the Thames. Known for its honey-coloured seventeenth century stone cottages, it has been described as 'one of the world's most picturesque villages', and was once described by William Morris as 'the most beautiful village in England'.

Sackville House has one of the best locations in Bibury, directly overlooking the famous 'Arlington Row' - used in the Films 'Stardust' and 'Bridget Jones's Diary' - and faces the beautiful water meadows.

Sackville House is only 3 minutes walk from The Swan, 6 minutes drive from Cribbs Barn, 8 minutes drive from Stone Barn and 6 minutes drive from Barnsley House Hotel all local wedding venues.

The village has a post office, The Catherine Wheel Pub, The Swan Hotel, Bibury Court Hotel, Bibury Trout Farm, and the Saxon church of St. Mary's all 8 minutes or less walking from the door step. We will also soon have a village shop and new tearoom!

Local villages such as Colne st Aldwyns, Aldsworth and Barnsley have some great Pubs and fantastic walks from the Cottage doorstep also.

Bibury has restricted public transport so we recommend hiring a car to get to and from Sackville House.
