Completely self contained, cosy Loft accomodation for 2, with parking on driveway for 1 vehicle. Cleaned & disinfected by a team of professional cleaners after each visit. Accessed by code lock, via private entrance off a pretty courtyard. On the edge of a tranquil rural hamlet, amid the fields & fells of the Lake District National Park. Next to the owners’ traditional Lakeland 18th century stone cottage. Offers modern conveniences whilst retaining the charming character of the old building.

The Loft at Lamplugh Green provides well equipped, clean, warm, first floor loft style apartment accommodation for two people. Enjoy true peace and quiet in this rural location with good access to the beautiful fells, valleys, lakes and rivers of the Lake District National Park.

This area of Cumbria was granted UNESCO World Heritage Status in 2017 and makes an ideal base for touring north-west Cumbria, hiking and climbing, an en-route stopover for the C2C Cycleway or a peaceful, romantic location for a countryside retreat.

The Loft has a cosy yet firm double bed which will be made up with fresh bedding for your visit.

The kitchen area is well equipped for self catering, with an under-counter fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, kettle, a two-ring electric oven, blender, cafetière coffee pot, crockery & cutlery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, oil, vinegar, salt & pepper and storage space for your groceries. It's also supplied with dish cloths, tea towels and cleaning products.

Fresh towels are provided in the ensuite shower room along with shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, hand soap and toilet rolls. The shower room contains a shower, hand - wash basin, toilet, heated towel rail and storage drawers.

There’s free Wi-fi, and a flat screen Smart TV with Satellite and Freeview channels. The Loft also has a CD player / radio and there are plenty of local area maps, books and board games for you to borrow during your stay. Recommendations for local walking & cycle routes as well as restaurants, cafes, Inns and visitor attractions can be found in the blue files as well as online in the guidebook for The Loft (follow the links on AirBnB).

The wardrobe cupboard has a mobile clothes rail, hangers, portable fire escape ladder, portable air cooling fan and its own internal light.

The utility area downstairs in the lobby has a washer / dryer (washing liquid & conditioner provided), folding drying rack, iron & ironing board, hooks for hanging outdoor coats and a black rubber mat for muddy walking boots and shoes. This lobby area is not suitable for cycle storage. Secure storage for your cycles is available in the big shed up the garden; just let us know if you need this.

Please note: Smoking / vaping is not permitted in The Loft. You may smoke in the Courtyard where you’ll find a sand filled terracotta pot for your cigarette ends.

Guests are welcome to use the table, chairs and fire pit set out in the Courtyard area. We’ll start you off with your first box of wood, some kindling, firelighters and matches free of charge. You'll find this in the log store on the courtyard, along with the storage boxes for your paper, plastics, metal and glass recycling. Further wood & kindling is available at £5 per box.

Our pretty, wild-life friendly garden and the surrounding fields, fells and woodland are home to roe deer, hares, badgers, red squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs, rabbits and a wide variety of bird life. Listen out for the woodpecker, cuckoo and owls. We are visited regularly by a cock pheasant who struts his way down across the field and garden. You may also see the neighbouring farmers’ special breed sheep and pet goat grazing in the fields.

The Loft has a parking space for one vehicle, located in front of the black wooden garage doors.

We don’t yet have an electric vehicle recharging point installed and are not able to support charging of electric vehicles via an extension cord plugged into the domestic supply as that can pose a fire risk. Electric charging points are available at many petrol stations (eg. Oakhurst Garage on the A5086 / A66 roundabout on the outskirts of Cockermouth) and larger supermarkets and town car parks. You’ll be able to web search for locations, to help with your journey planning.

Къде ще бъдете

Lamplugh, England, Обединеното кралство

Lamplugh is a picturesque cluster of homes and farms surrounding the Grade II* listed church of ‘St Michaels and All Angels’. There are many quiet lanes, by-ways, woods, fells, stream & river sides to explore straight out of The Loft's door.

This area of outstanding natural beauty boasts Loweswater (the Lake) about 2.5 miles away, Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water, both about 4 miles away, and Buttermere, Bassenthwaite and Wastwater just beyond. Here you can enjoy a leisurely lakeside stroll or perhaps a more energetic walk over the local fells, so beloved by Alfred Wainwright, who wrote the famous Wainwright Guides to The Lake District.

For those who prefer to see the landscape on horseback, pony trekking is available at Bradley’s Riding Centre on Cold Fell above Ennerdale.

Boat hire is available at Crummock (National Trust) and on Derwentwater at nearby Keswick.

Keen climbers will find many good outdoor rock faces in West Cumbria. Honister Slate Mine offers a guided Via Ferrata, along the hair-raising old route that miners would have used. There are also two good climbing centres in Keswick, which cater for adults & children and offer guided outdoor climbing & ghyll scrambling (weather permitting), and a ‘Clip and Climb Centre’ in Maryport.

Picturesque St Bees Head Heritage Coast, reveals long stretches of sandy beach as the tide goes out and is just 11 miles away. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, known locally as 'La’al Ratty', is a 7 mile narrow gauge steam railway that runs through some of the most stunning countryside from Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale to Ravenglass on the coast.

As well as the many delightful rural Inns and Pubs, the local towns of Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Workington and Maryport and further afield, Penrith and Carlisle, provide shops, supermarkets, theatres, cinemas, night clubs, cafes, restaurants, museums, art galleries and other Visitor Attractions.

I love living in the country surrounded by fields and fells. Towns & cities are great for visiting for short periods of time before returning to the peace and tranquility of my home.

I'm a retired Counsellor and Psychotherapist and enjoy having more time for cycling, walking, climbing, canoeing, gardening, making cobbled paths, weaving willow and spending time with my friends and family. I love to sing with a couple of local community choirs, which are made up of a group of people whose aim is to make lovely harmonies and have the best fun whilst doing it.

I'm married to Dave, who's a musician and lecturer/ researcher in community music and I have grown up children and a grandson.

Since starting to host on AirBnB I've met some wonderful people from all over the world and enjoy sharing the best of West Cumbria with them.
