West Cornwall is a romantic and amazing place… and we're in a great place to explore it.

Our light and spacious private room in the village of Pendeen has its own bathroom with shower, a comfy bed, armchairs, dining table and a little fridge for drinks and snacks (a bottle of wine does fit...).

Continental breakfast is provided. To start your day, help yourself to toast, cereal and juice – there's a toaster and kettle in your room.

Помещението
The room is upstairs in the eaves of our home with views to the front of Carn Eanes, and – weather permitting – fields and the sea to the rear. The cover photo is looking down from the Carn over the village of Pendeen.

There is a compact, private bathroom with shower, basin, toilet.

Arm chairs look out to sea and there's a kettle, toaster, a small fridge, glasses, plates etc.

You'll find a selection of books and local guides - cards and boardgames available too – and you're welcome to borrow our walking map of the area.

There are some low beams in the room – see photos – so please mind your head! The shower is built in to the eaves of the house so if you're tall, you might find it a bit short on headroom.

Достъп на гостите
We live downstairs, upstairs is all yours; our front door leads to a hall shared with the main house. A door and stairs lead up from there to your private space.

You are welcome to use the table and chairs in the front garden.

Apart from the toaster and kettle, we do not provide cooking facilities. There is a fish and chip shop a few doors away from us and the local pubs serve food if you would like a hot meal.

We also have a Portuguese / Brazilian tapas café- “Maria Chica” just down the road that is open Wednesday - Sunday from 10am - 4pm and Friday and Saturday evenings (book for evenings).

St Just has some eating out and take-away options, nearby Trewellard has a Meadery and there are many restaurants in Penzance (15 mins drive).

Други неща за отбелязване
This is our family home and we'll be coming and going. We're not noisy people but we can't say that you'll never hear us!

Pets… we have cats but they are banned from upstairs, and a few chickens who occasionally make themselves known with a cluck or a squawk – no cockerel though.

Stairs lead up to the room, so the room won't be suitable if stairs are generally a problem for you.

We haven't whacked on a massive cleaning fee, but we have included a token amount as a contribution to to the additional cleaning and washing that comes from 1 night stays.

Местоположение

Pendeen, England, Обединено кралство

Pendeen lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the far west of Cornwall on the Penwith Peninsula, 8 miles from Lands End.

Here you'll find ancient stone-bordered fields great walks, stone circles, ancient monuments, coastal scenery and a relaxed pace of life. Pendeen is also part of the World Heritage Site – sites like the Levant Mine and Beam Engine are well worth a visit.

About 1km from the South West Coast Path, we're ideally placed for an overnight stay en route. See lower down for more SW Coast Path info...

Pendeen has 2 pubs, a well stocked shop and a Post Office, all within very easy reach. Neighbouring Trewellard (5 mins walk) adds another pub and meadery restaurant.

There are beautiful walks from the front door down to the coast path and Portheras beach in one direction, or you can explore “Poldark Country” by heading in the other. Or take the spectacular cost road east along to Zennor or St Ives, or west to Sennan Cove, Lands End, Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre.

There is an abundance of coastal and countryside walks on the “Tin Coast” and many attractions nearby including National Trust properties and the historic Geevor Tin Mine.

=== South West Coast Path ===

The west coast stretch coming from Land's End over to St Ives (or vice versa) is one of the most beautiful, but also a tough section with a lot of gradient - and some sections feel *much* further than they are. Allow yourself more time than you might expect; 6 miles on the flat is not the same as 6 miles going up and down over rough ground.

To give you an overview of our nearby sections:

From St Ives to Pendeen Watch is 13.7 miles [22.0km] - but this is a tough section and a challenging walk for a day. Unless you're very keen, you might consider splitting it in 2, or take an inland route for part of the walk to cut off some corners. Personally, we wouldn't attempt this whole stretch in a day but if you're fit, go for it!

Carrying on west from Pendeen...

From Pendeen Watch to Land's End is 10.4 miles [16.7km]. Still fairly up and down and in and out; not as extreme as the St Ives section (and a keen walker should be able to do this in a day) but it still feels like a big walk.

+ Distances from St Ives to Land's End via Pendeen with Intermediate Stops +

St Ives - Zennor Head 6.5 miles [10.4km] but this really feels like twice as far. There's a good pub & restaurant at Zennor village - the Tinners Arms. If you stay on the path you will miss the village - you have to come inland slightly.

Zennor - Gurnard's Head 2.1 miles [3.3km] - Another good pub "The Gurnard's Head" here. It's the very yellow building.

Gurnard's Head - Pendeen Watch (lighthouse) 5.1 miles [8.2km] - Pendeen village is 1km from Pendeen Watch, where you'll find us, a well-stocked shop, pubs etc. Welcome!

Pendeen Watch - Cape Cornwall is 4.0 miles [6.4km]. Cape Cornwall is not geographically the furthest point west, but when you're there it feels like it should be. It's a much nicer place to spend some time than the "real" Land's End. Divert to St Just if you need civilisation / refreshments.

Cape Cornwall - Cot Valley (for Lands End YHA) 1.0 mile [1.6km] - A lovely spot.

Cot Valley - Sennen Cove 4.2 miles [6.7km] - Pubs and food at Sennen Cove

Sennen Cove - Land's End 1.2 miles [2.0km] - Only to say you've been there, really.

Then after that you can carry on round to Porthcurno and Lamorna. They're actually not very far in a straight line or by car from Pendeen, but by the coast path? That's another matter...

There is a free South West Coast Path app available from the Google and Apple app stores which gives you plenty of info in several languages. Our local section is featured in their "Wild West Coast" tour.
