Какво ще правите

We'll meet at one of three birding hotspots in Palm Beach County for a morning or late afternoon tour for a couple of hours of great bird watching. All of these sites are part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. They are easy walking locations, perfect for beginner to experienced birders with boardwalk, soil or grass running through various wetland habitats including: freshwater marsh, cabbage palm hammocks and cypress swamp habitat. We will stroll for no more than 0.5mi at a slow pace and listen and look for whatever birds we find in a couple of hours. I will begin with a short crash course in birding and will educate you along the way with fun facts about the species we encounter and teach you fun ways to remember songs and calls, making birding fun especially for the beginner birdwatcher! These sites serve as the feeding, breeding or wintering grounds for many types of birds all year long, which include ducks, herons, egrets, storks, gallinules, rails, blackbirds, buntings, raptors, warblers, cormorants and anhingas. We will also enjoy other wildlife along the journey, which have included freshwater turtles, alligators, snakes, frogs, river otters, marsh rabbits and bobcat.
Other things to note
A full refund will only be issued if host cancels due to weather. 24 hour notice to the host by the guest is required to issue a full refund.

I studied Wildlife Biology at The University of Vermont and my favorite class was Ornithology, which included a trip to FL whereupon I fell in love with birding. I acquired my Master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying the impact of communication towers to migratory birds. My passion for birding really took off after finding fallen birds under towers and I truly learned to appreciate the great feat of migration, inspiring me to find them flitting about alive and well! In 2013, I started guiding for Ventures Birding Tours and lead trips in FL, NC, TX and Trinidad & Tobago.

My wife and I had a great time learning about the beautiful birds of this area. Emilie quickly figured out what we already knew and then created a wonderful experience for us. She has a love of birds and is incredibly expressive and fun. Worth it for me, and I’m a complete novice!

What a wonderful experience from start to finish!!! Emilie was such a great host and guide. From communicating prior to the event to ensure she could bring me any equipment I didn’t own (like her pro set of binoculars for ultra birdwatching a la zoom x8) , to ensuring I knew where to meet her and even sharing some pics prior to the experience. She is super knowledgeable on the subject of nature preservation and ecosystems. Her boyfriend Sam, who also came along was just as knowledgeable in coastal aquatic ecosystems and together they truly offered what I would consider a professional field / nature tour of the wetlands and all the species of birds, plants, animals, butterflies and insects we were able to see. Emilie is also very friendly and hospitable, and makes the experience super easy going but packed with content. She makes it look easy!!! You can also tell by the amount of locals who stopped to say hello to her and ask her questions that she is regarded highly by her peers and those who have come to know her. Emilie is someone who doesn’t just have knowledge of the ecosystems, she has a passion for it. She makes the explanations come to life with stories and experiences that make you feel like you are walking into a large secret garden where every detail has a purpose in the larger story that Emilie helps to paint. I truly felt like I got to know Florida’s natural eco-scape so much better today. And by the way Oliver the Owl was literally the highlight of my week. You’ll know him when you see him!!! Thanks so much Emilie (and Sam for coming along) I had such an energetic start to the day and it far exceeded what I thought we would be doing and seeing!!!

Learned much more than I would have with an online guide. Emilie is very knowledgeable about a variety of animals in the wetlands.

Emilie was able to adapt to our beginning knowledge of bird watching. She made it fun and explained the name of each bird we encountered. I enjoyed her passion for preservation and history of the birds we observed. You will have a new understanding of orinthology when you depart.

Amazing! I learned all about birding techniques; which apps to use, which guides to use and how to use them. I learned bird descriptions, bird calls and mnemonics to help with recall. Emilie is so skilled that we had many strangers who joined us along the tour route to listen and learn from her. I highly recommend this tour.
