Learn the secret of Parma ham production in Parma, a city loved for its fresh-from-the-attic prosciutto.
You will go to an organic farm that produces the famous Parma ham and meet the producer to discover the process of making a gourmet Parma ham. Follow the process, from the careful and accurate selection of the pigs and their diet. See where the fresh haunches are selected and salted. Enjoy access to areas such as the cooling, salting and "resting" rooms. Each room emulates the traditional winter to spring curing seasons.

You will also go to the cellar branding areas, which are usually inaccessible to the public. It's here that the naso (master nose) selects the perfect products to use for the fire-branding of the twin crowns. Once produced, Parma ham finds its way to the top restaurants around the world.

Taste delicious Parma ham paired with a glass of Malvasia, a sparkling, white local wine or Lambrusco wine.

The lovely smiley patient Alessandro picked us up From the station and dropped us off at the farm where Mattia our guide was waiting for us. Mattia is very knowledgeable, passionate, and fun! He was explaining everything in details and had answers to all our questions! We highly recommend this tour as it is very personalized and Mattia is a great guide!

We had a wonderful time with Matteo exploring the prosciutto making process. Definitely a recommended experience where you get to see start to finish of the prosciutto life style in a unique way.

This is a tough experience to leave a review for. We did 4 Airbnb experiences during our time in Italy and this is the only one we had issues with/were disappointed by. We realized a decent amount of these issues after the fact and brought each one up to Federico who refused to change the description or offer any type of refund. Issues: 1. The descriptions said that you will go to an Organic Parma Ham farm. You go to a factory (they said it was a translation issue which is fine but other reviewers pointed it out, so might be best to fix it). Also we asked our guide if it was organic and he said it is definitely not organic. It is a natural process in making the ham but there’s a big difference between natural and organic. 2. The description says you will meet the producer of the hams. We didn’t. Federico’s response was that our guide was the grandson of a Parma ham producer. Also not true, as our guide specifically told us that his grandfather was a Parmesano Reggiano cheese maker, which is cool, but not the same thing. Also, not even close to meeting and hearing from the actual producer. 3. They talk about the ‘Naso’ in the description but our guide had never heard the testers called that. Not a huge deal, we still got to try out what the testers do but if it’s in your description your guide should know what that is. 4. Lastly, I’m sure this doesn’t happen most of the time but we had significant driving time to the tour because the company runs multiple tours and we were last on the list. This wasn’t a disappointment but more just a heads up to future tour goers that we were in the car for about 45-60 minutes after getting picked up. The Good: 1. Matteo, our guide, was awesome and did a really good job. He was knowledgeable, enjoyable and solid all around. Highly recommend. Unfortunately, he did have to leave to drive other people on a different tour back before our ham tasting which was a bummer but out of his control. 2. The tasting of ham and wine (they say Malvasia in the description but gave us Lambrusco which was tasty but again, why have it wrong in the description?) was at a cool winery that’s about 10 minutes from the ham factory. You can also purchase more food and wine there. We enjoyed it overall but did have to buy the Malvasia that they say you get in the description (because we got Lambrusco free). 3. Because our guide had to leave, his boss, Mattia (hopefully I spelled that right), came to pick us up. He runs ParmaLook, the organization that puts on these tours. He was also very nice and helpful and we really enjoyed our drive back with him. I wish I would’ve had the chance to speak to him about these issues but as I said, we didn’t really realize all of the specific disconnects until after. All in all, this was a solid 2-3 star tour but it’s lacking the necessary touches and personalization to truly be 5 star. It paled in comparison to the other food tours we did in the area (Parmesano Reggiano and balsamic) and the reaction to our concerns after the fact was disappointing. I don’t think we can recommend this tour.

The experience was fantastic. Stefano shared some great knowledge during the tour. My wife and I, and even my 2 year old son enjoyed it very much. There's always an additional layer of culture every time we taste Parma Ham ever since the tour.

This was an amazing experience! My husband and I really enjoyed seeing how Parma ham is made so joyfully by our hosts. This was a unique experience that we would not have received elsewhere! Going to the winery at the end for a tasting and a glass of wine was a great touch! Book this tour!
